Four years ago, Eco-Schools and BTC entered into a partnership to design the long-term project Mission: Green Steps, aiming to raise awareness on sustainability and the various modes of transportation among young people. This past school year, the organisers of the project focused on the impact of traffic on climate change and the carbon footprint, which gained currency during the COVID-19 epidemic.
Because of the circumstances that ensued due to the epidemic, the organisers decided that there would be no customary closing event this year, but that awards for the most creative artwork, the most imaginative technical or graphic design work and the best research work on sustainable mobility would still be handed out.
The project involved 1,500 children and adolescents from 82 Slovenian kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and special education schools, whose creative products will be displayed in BTC City Ljubljana’s Shopping Arena A until July 31, 2020.

Eco-Schools is the largest international network of children, adolescents, educators and teachers in the world, which applies environmental education and the principles of sustainable development to everyday work and learning. It involves more than 15 million children, a million educators and teachers, and over 48,000 institutions in 65 countries across the world. In Slovenia, the Eco-Schools programme includes more than 100,000 children, primary, secondary and tertiary education students, and 8,500 educators or teachers, mentors and project managers.
