At a gala event marking the 30th anniversary of the Slovenian Science Foundation, Jože Mermal, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the BTC Company, received the Gold Award for the longstanding support to the Foundation.
As a co-founder of the Slovenian Science Foundation, the BTC Company has been actively cooperating with the Foundation since 1994. Upon the 30th anniversary of the Slovenian Science Foundation, Jože Mermal, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the BTC Company, received a Gold Award, which attests to the long-standing support of the BTC Company to the Foundation and its scientific research and projects.
Among other projects, the BTC Company and the Slovenian Science Foundation have together designed a longstanding project “Science in BTC City” whose purpose is to encourage and raise awareness about the developmental role of science in society. The project included several popular scientific exhibitions, such as Cosmic Photography, Our Genome and Us, The Sanctuary of Palaeolithic Hunters and the exhibition Staring Views into the Mysterious Universe, which was inaugurated by Sunita L. Williams, a Slovenian astronaut from the American space agency NASA, who also holds the world record as the woman with the longest spacewalk.
