On 1 June 2019, the BTC City Ljubljana hosted already the third charity basketball 3 x 3 tournament “ZATO! Igram košarko”, organised by Rotary klub 25 in co-operation with the Slovenian Basketball Association.

The charity tournament, attended by 13 basketball teams and won by Kobal transporti in Ballersi, was organised with the aim of collecting donations for the project of building a children’s camp “ZATO!” in Dešeča vas near Žužemberk. The camp will provide a free holiday for all financially-challenged children and adolescents, amidst the beautiful nature along the Krka River at an equipped camping spot. The profits from charitable donations of companies and individuals amounted to EUR 6,000.

In the past ten years, with the help of charity activities, Rotary klub 25 raised donations in the total amount of more than EUR 1,000,000. With its past charity activities, Rotary klub 25, among others, ensured the means to buy land for the camp site. The means collected at this event, in the amount of EUR 6,000, will go towards communal infrastructure, living and sanitary facilities, and sports-educational contents. What is “ZATO! Kamp Krka”?

“ZATO! Kamp Krka” is a humanitarian and non-profit project by Rotary klub Ljubljana, created with the aim of helping the youngest, people in need, and children from socially disadvantaged families. The project strives for long-term ensuring of interesting, educational, and fun holidays with the additional aim of gaining knowledge and experience which will ensure a more quality development of skills which young people need to become healthy, successful, and socially responsible adults. The land along the Krka River was provided by members of the club, while a long-term aim is to build a holiday-educational area where 100 to 150 children at the same time could spend their summer holidays in the heart of nature. In the project “ZATO! Kamp Krka”, the organiser has the intention of co-operating with the local community, people living in the vicinity, entrepreneurs, craftsmen, public institutions, and non-profit organisations that will also contribute to the development and implementation of the project.
