On December 1, the Slovenian Digital Center, the central economic and industry event venue of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, established in partnership between the BTC company, the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of the Republic of Slovenia, SPIRIT Slovenia and DIH Slovenia, saw the first ever purchase of e-vignettes in Slovenia.
On December 1, just a few minutes after midnight, the first Slovenian e-vignette purchases were made in Slovenian Digital Center in BTC City Ljubljana. They were made by Mark Boris Andrijanič, Minister of Digital Transformation of the Republic of Slovenia, and Jernej Vrtovec, Minister of Infrastructure of the Republic of Slovenia. The ministers were also accompanied by DARS board members.
DARS chose the Slovenian Digital Center as a point of purchase because it represents the key hub of Slovenian development and economic progress during Slovenia’s Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The e-vignette is a modern toll payment method for motor vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3500 kg. It does not differ fundamentally from the traditional vignette aside from appearing in a different format – digital – which is why the purchasing process is also a bit different. The e-vignette is linked to the vehicle registration plate number, so it is very important to enter the correct registration plate number and country of vehicle registration, and choose an e-vignette for the right toll class, when making the purchase.
As one of the partners of the Slovenian Digital Center, the BTC company warmly welcomes this new, modern, and digitized method of toll payment.
