On 4th May 2022, the European Commission declared 5 projects selected as part of the tender, estimated at 25 million Euro, in support of the development of orientational representative projects of the New European Bauhaus. Among them, there is also project DESIRE (Designing the Irresistible Circular Society), part of which are the BTC Company and CER (Centre for Energy Efficient Solutions) as Slovenian partners.
Cooperating in the two-year project DESIRE, whose main protagonist is the Danish partner Bloxhub, are partners from five countries – Denmark, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Italy and Latvia. The BTC Company and CER are the two Slovenian project partners. All partners will face the main challenges that society and cities face: climate change, loss of biodiversity and depletion of resources. With its sustainable and innovative solutions focusing on improving the environment and the quality of living, the project will support the European Union’s mission to achieve 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030.
The New European Bauhaus (NEB) is an environmental, economic and cultural project whose main goal is to combine design, sustainability, inclusion, affordability and investments for easier implementation of the European Green Deal. With the selected projects, NEB will create sustainable, inclusive and pleasant spaces and locations in the EU, thereby including citizens in the green transformation on the local level. The selected projects will receive approximately 5 million Euro for the implementation of their plans in 11 EU member states, plus Turkey and Norway. They will develop solutions in the field of building renovation, circular approach, art, cultural heritage, education, smart cities, and urban and rural area renewal processes.
