In this special anniversary year, it’s not only the BTC Company itself that’s proudly celebrating its 70th birthday, but also the company’s very own Firefighting Unit. On this occasion, Damjan Kralj, M.Sc., CEO of the BTC Company, and Jože Mermal, Chairman of the Board of Directors, presented them with a brand new firefighting vehicle.
The BTC Company has been aware of the importance of providing a safe environment for everyone since its beginnings. This is evidenced, among other things, by the fact that a fire safety service was put in place as soon as the company was founded in 1954. Starting with three watchmen, the corporate security unit today consists of six members of the firefighting team.
Having an own Firefighting Unit on the grounds of BTC City Ljubljana is crucial for ensuring the safety of visitors and employees in the area, as well as for property protection purposes. Upon the handover of the vehicle, Jože Mermal, Chairman of the BTC Company’s Board of Directors, thanked the firefighters for their longstanding safety efforts and their incredible responsiveness in critical situations.
The BTC Company’s Firefighting Unit consists of professional firefighters, who work in two shifts. As first responders they’re actively cooperating with the Ljubljana rescue station and the Ljubljana fire brigade. They carry out all the traditional firefighting operational and preventative tasks, first aid and emergency medical aid, a wide range of technical tasks, and other fire safety and general safety related activities.
The new firefighting vehicle, which will replace the existing vehicle from 2004, has a high-pressure pump and a 200-litre water tank, as well as an array of basic and specialised firefighting and rescue fittings.
