On Saturday, 15 October, and on Sunday, 16 October, BTC City Ljubljana will host the 16th Festival of Shopping and Fun. Organizers of the Festival put great effort into the preparation of a variegated accompanying programme with diverse activities. Visitors of all ages will be able to take part in numerous sports-recreational activities and prize-winning games, while there will also be live performances by popular Slovene musicians. Central events will be held on the main location, the square between Hall A and BTC City Market, and on other, smaller locations, such as the square Trg mladih, the Shopping gallery of the Crystal palace, SiTi Teater, BTC City Market, Lingula language centre and the lower floor of the Emporium hall. During the Festival, visitors will be able to buy goods at special discounts in all stores of BTC City Ljubljana.
The 16th Festival of Shopping and Fun will start on Saturday at 10:30pm on the main location, with the presentation by the hockey-skating team Tilia Olimpija and the programme extending to Saturday and Sunday. Visitors will be able to attend the fashion show, and enjoy the animated dance programme by Kazina dance school as well as performances by stand-up comedians. Organizers also prepared different prize-winning games and other activities.
The centre stage of the main happening will host the musical group Langa at 2pm and a big concert by Magnifico at 8pm on Saturday, 15 October. On Sunday, 16 October, between 12am and 2pm the Pop-Folk bands of Radio Sora will take the stage, followed by a battle of accordion players. The Festival will close with performances by Lucienne Lončina and the “Slovene Joe Cocker”, Daniel Rampre, ending with a draw for the big Sunday prize-winning game.
This year’s festival will offer theatre performances in SiTi Teater. On Saturday, 15 October, at 11am there will be a multimedia performance for children, titled True Princess (Prava Princeska), while adults will find something more to their liking at 8pm with a mono-comedic performance by Lado Bizovičar, titled Dad (Fotr). Theatre fans will be able to enjoy themselves also on Sunday, 16 October, with an intimate comical drama Deception (Prevara), featuring Jernej Šugman, Maša Derganc and Uroš Fürst.
Festival activities will also take place in the Shopping Gallery of the Crystal palace. Visitors of the tallest building in Slovenia will have the opportunity to attend a big fashion show and a musical performance by Katja Koren, which will take place on Saturday, 15 October, at 12am.
Festival of Shopping and Fun will enthral young and older fans of old-timers, as BTC City Market will host an exhibition of old-timers on Saturday between 9am and 2pm.
The square Trg mladih will become a real cyberworld for two days, where computer gamers will most definitely find something for themselves. On Saturday and Sunday, between 11am and 5pm there will be Wii tournaments, while dance fans will be able to take part in the competition of Arcade dance.
The aforementioned activities for children will take place on the lower floor of the Emporium hall, where the new sports-recreational and educational centre for children, Beti in Cej, opened its doors in March. The young ones will be able to enjoy themselves playing games with Beti and Cej. At 4pm on Saturday there will be an organized event of baking cakes. At 10:30am on Saturday and Sunday there will be performances by the young group Zvezdice, followed by a magic show at 11am, performed by the magician Jole Cole. Young children will also be able to take part in free fairytale hours, when fairytales will be told in English, between 2pm and 3:30pm in the Lingula language centre, while older children will be able to attend a free language workshop in English.
