On 19 and 20 October 2018, BTC City will host the already 30th Festival of Shopping and Fun. The festival will once again feature bargain purchases and extended opening times – shops will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. – as well as an exciting kids’, sports and entertainment programme at different venues. Kids can look forward to BTC’s children’s fairy tale, a colourful world full of adventures, while their parents can enjoy some retro-country style fun times, excellent cuisine and music.
The two-day event will once again feature discounts and special offers prepared by vendors in the area. The official list of discounts will be published at the website www.btc-city.com/fnz one day before the event, but those who just can’t wait anymore can subscribe to an exclusive mailing list and receive the entire discount list as soon as tomorrow!
In addition to discounts, the festival will be spruced up by an exciting kids’ programme. BTC’s fairy tale will be the best children’s party wide and far. In front of the indoor area of Shopping Arena A, the kids will enter a world of fun adventures, try different sweets and try themselves at different skills, including educational activities. Since there can be no children’s fairy tale without a fairy, the kids will be paid a visit by the wonderful Sweet Fairy, who will give them candy and take pictures with them.
The children can enjoy a wide array of fun and creative workshops, including a real cookie baking workshop in Minicity’s little bakery, drawing Chinese kanji with language school Lingula, and creative workshops with the shop Pri Levčku. The educational path Mission: Green will be set up in Shopping Arena A lobbies to teach kids about protecting our planet and give them an incentive to find correct answers to the questions. Those who visit all five stops and answer all the questions correctly can finally turn the wheel of fortune and have a chance at winning some nice prizes. The main venue will also see the presentation of the girls from Mični gospodični, as well as the presentation of different Slovenian gymnastics associations and the Slovenian Gymnastics Federation on an Airtrack mat. Together with their parents, the kids can also take part in XXL table games such as memory, mikado, Xs and Os, and others. Since such an exciting day should be immortalised and shared with friends, we will set up a special photo nook, where visitors can have pictures taken free-of-charge.
In the indoor area of the venue in front of Shopping Arena A, on both festival days between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., kids will dance in the mini disco, which will look like a real club, including a DJ mixing desk and a mini karaoke stage. As is the case in “real” clubs, the dance event will take place late in the afternoon and early in the evening. The young “partygoers” can dance and have fun together with BTC’s mascots Beti and Cej. Cinema enthusiasts can visit the mini cinema in Shopping Arena A, which will show short cartoons, while theatre lovers are sure to enjoy short performances by SiTi Teater. Another venue to host exciting events for kids is Baby Center’s Stork playground, where kids will be able to compete on the mobility course on balance bikes and regular kids’ bikes, play with plasticine, play XXL four-in-a-row, and have fun in the nerf corner.
On Friday, between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., and Saturday, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., there will be a special basketball course set up at the main venue, so that visitors can try their ball skills going up against pros from basketball club KK Petrol Olimpija. Meanwhile, computer fans aged 7 to 15 are kindly invited to the Digital School BTC City corner or the ABC Hub on the lower floor of Emporium, where Digital School BTC City will organise free workshops focusing on computer basics and programming. The workshops will take place on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each workshop lasts 60 minutes. As the kids and teenagers acquire new computer skills, their parents can indulge in some carefree shopping.
Fans of great cuisine also have something to look forward to, as do those grown-ups who just want to have some fun. The Beer Bulli van will be set up on the Trg mladih square alongside hay bales, blankets, and a selection of delicious food and drink, which will create a charming country atmosphere. At 10 p.m. on Friday, a DJ and Miro Todosovski will turn it into party. Both days of the festival, opticians from Optika Clarus will offer the visitors free vision testing on the Trg mladih square, while those buying delicacies from different food vendors at the southern end of the BTC City Market will receive a coupon, which they can trade for a music request or a game on the retro pinball machine with the pin-up hostesses.
The entire programme of the Festival of Shopping and Fun in BTC City Ljubljana is available at www.btc-city.com/fnz (in Slovene only). A list of discounts and special offers will be published on this website a day before the event. However, the most curious among you can subscribe to an exclusive mailing list and receive the discount list as soon as tomorrow, on Wednesday, October 17.
The Festival will also take place in other BTC Cities, also on 19 and 20 October, in BTC City Novo mesto and BTC City Murska Sobota.
